(More customer reviews)I was very happy with Verbatim DataLifePlus in the 50 pack (#95203), labeled "Made in Taiwan".I burned 600 DVD-Rs and they were perfect.I was hoping this 100 pace was identical -- it wasn't.
Comparing #95203 (50 pack) w/ #97017 (100 pack)
Same: Manufacturing company -- Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. -- 1st tier mfg. co.
Same: Manufacturing ID: MCC 03RG20
Same: silver top and blue/green bottom
Diff: 50 pack's DVDs' hub is labeled "VERBATIM DVD-R 16X"
100 pack's hub is not labeled at all.
Diff: 50 pack is made in Taiwan.100 pack is made in China.
Diff: 50 pack can burn at 16x, 100 pack can burn at 18x (according to Nero)
Diff: 50 pack comes in 50 pk spindle.100 pack is shrink-wrapped with plastic discs on top and bottom to prevent scratches on media.
Test: So far I burned 7 DVD-Rs at 8x with write verify -- all are perfect.I burn 4486 MB -- virtually max capacity.
Notes: The Amazon box packaging wasn't very good -- bounced a lot in box.However my 4 100 packs were undamaged.
Conclusion: should prove to be good.I trust Verbatim and Mitsubishi, but not China.
UPDATE:
After burning 200, I have more reservations -- coasters.I made about 5 of them.I am burning these DVDs at 8x on the same LG drive which burned 600 Verbatim 95203 (the 50 pack version of this made in Taiwan) perfectly.I therefore recommend the Verbatim 95203 instead -- for peace of mind.
